Lord -
Your word feels rare. Our eyesight grows dim, and visions of You diminish.
Yet, Your light-filled lamp has not yet gone out.
May we be like Samuel as we lie down in Your temple and curl up next to Your covenantal promises. May we be like Eli and recognize when it is You calling our names and the names of our loved ones.
May our eyes and ears awaken to You coming to us, standing before us, and calling us.
May we respond to Your revelatory voice with these holy words: “Here I am. Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
In the name of the One who opens our eyes, so we may see, we pray.
Amen.
