Prayer (Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30)
Lord of heaven and earth -
To what will we compare our generation?
Forgive us for calling those who come to make a way for You “demons.” Forgive us for calling those who befriend sinners “gluttons” and “drunkards.”
Wisdom vindicates Herself through Her deeds. May we see Wisdom in those preparing a way for Your presence and in those befriending sinners.
You reveal Yourself to infants and to all those whom inhabit life’s edges. Help us listen to those who know God.
Lord of heaven and earth -
To what will we compare our generation?
We are weary. We carry heavy burdens.
Help us come to You - One who is gentle and humble in heart - so our souls may find rest.
Help us learn from You. Help us learn how to carry our crosses in such a way that allow us to also say, “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
In the name of the One who eats and drinks with sinners, we pray.
Amen.
