Lord -
All of us make many mistakes - especially in our speaking.
Our mouths and tongues are small, yet they powerfully guide us. They are small, yet they set ablaze great forests. They are small, yet capable of staining our individual and collective body.
With one tongue we bless You and curse those made in Your likeness.
Just as a fig tree cannot yield olives and salt water cannot yield fresh water, this pouring forth of blessing and cursing from the same tongue ought not to be.
May we keep our mouths and tongues in check, and may our fiery tongues be healing instead of destructive.
Amen.
