Jesus -
You place before us another parable to describe the reign of heaven.
You sow good seeds in the world, and while we sleep, weeds appear in our fields. Forgive us for sleeping and not tending to Your work in the world.
Awaken our souls, so we may nurture Your reign on earth.
Wheat and weeds will grow together until You return to collect all causes of sin. Forgive us for attempting to gather weeds that You alone can gather and sort.
Humble us, so we may not assume that we are only made of wheat and that others are only made of weeds. For we all contain multitudes.
Give us ears to listen to Your parable as we approach You, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.”
In the name of the One who sows good seed, we pray.
Amen.
