Jesus Christ our Lord -
Transform our minds, so they may be the same as Yours.
Instead of exploiting our privilege, may we empty and humble ourselves - a pattern You embodied. A pattern You set when You - in God’s form - became human form.
Your obedience to the living God You enfleshed led to death on a cross. We sit before that cross this week feeling challenged and grateful, condemned and released.
We sit before that cross knowing how the story ends - how God exalted You and gave You the name above every name. May this knowledge hold us when the world’s woes overwhelm us.
Death and exaltation. May our knees bend before the truth of this rhythmic pattern, and may it lead us to confess that You are Lord of all.
Amen.
